The Payroll and Equity Manager is responsible for overseeing payroll processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and managing employee equity programs. This role works closely with HR, finance, and external vendors to ensure accurate and timely compensation while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Management:
Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, including full-time, part-time, and contract workers.
Ensure payroll compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Work with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee compensation, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.
Manage relationships with payroll vendors and resolve any payroll-related issues.
Conduct audits and reconciliation of payroll records.
Ensure timely filing and reporting of payroll taxes.
Equity Administration:
Oversee the administration of employee stock options, RSUs (Restricted Stock Units), ESPP (Employee Stock Purchase Plans), and other equity compensation programs.
Manage equity grant issuance, tracking, and compliance.
Work with legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with SEC regulations and financial reporting requirements.
Maintain accurate records of stock transactions, employee vesting schedules, and taxation of equity awards.
Educate employees on equity compensation, taxation, and vesting schedules.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in payroll processing and equity administration.
Strong knowledge of payroll software.
Experience with equity management platforms
Understanding of tax laws related to payroll and equity compensation.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with employees and stakeholders.
High attention to detail and ability to manage confidential data.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or similar certification.
